ABOUT US
RoCo
Dramatic Society is a Leeds based amateur
dramatic society held at St
Andrew’s Church, Shaftesbury Avenue,
in Roundhay,
Leeds.
The drama group was formed when St Andrew's United
Reformed Church was Roundhay
Congregational Church –
hence the name. We also have a junior
drama group which has a growing number of
young members.
RoCo Dramatic Society put on two plays a year,
in March and November. Rehearsals for these take
place on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7.30
to 10.00pm, for twelve weeks, from January to
March, and September to November. The group also
produces a Murder Mystery in the summer, and this
is usually performed on two nights.
Junior RoCo takes place on a Monday night from
6pm to 7.15pm, during term time only. We aim to
stage two productions a year, usually in the summer
term and around Christmas.
There is an Annual Dinner in April or May, with
social events in the summer months. Members also
participate in drama for worship and in the musicals
performed by the church. Occasionally we have
play readings and visits to see other drama groups,
both amateur and professional.
We are always happy to welcome new members to
both RoCo and Junior RoCo, whether on stage or
behind the scenes, with stage crew, wardrobe,
make-up and stage management. As with most drama
groups, men are in short supply! We also welcome
more young people between the ages of 17 and 30.
If you would like to find out more about joining
RoCo or our next production, please use our contact
form – we would be happy to pass on details
of our next play reading or meeting.
